Urological andrology
Andrology is a urological specialty that deals with problems of “men’s health”, that include erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, male infertility, andropause, congenital or acquired penile curvature and some other problems specific to the male sex. Within urology, andrology has recently been recognized as a distinct specialty. Many of the abovementioned conditions require surgical intervention. Medical treatment (5-phosphodiesterase inhibitors) of erectile dysfunction has introduced a new era in urology. Multidisciplinary approach (endocrinologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, cardiologists, histologists etc.) is essential in diagnosis and treatment of andrological conditions, since surgical success might even depend on this collaboration.
