Abstract:
Millions of people use soft contact lenses. They wear them at work, while playing sports, while relaxing. They wear them day and night, continuously for several weeks. The three most common causes of eye inflammation caused by wearing soft contact lens are corneal hypoxia, dysfunction of the tear film (dry eye), and mechanical irritation. In each of these conditions it is important to set the correct diagnosis as early as possible and to start the appropriate therapy – not only to relieve symptoms, but to recover vision.
Key words:
corneal hypoxia; ocular mechanical irritation; soft contact lens; tear film dysfunction (dry eye)
