Stress and Psychosomatic Disorders in Family Medicine

Abstract:

Stress is a distorted psycho-physical balance of the body which requires an intervention. Stress plays an important role in the development of psychosomatic diseases - cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, diabetic, autoimmune, infectious and malignant ones. The prevention and treatment of psychosomatic diseases accounts for much of the working day of a family physician and it is therefore important to understand the role of stress in the development and course of psychosomatic illnesses. Also, for family physicians it is important to master the ways of reducing stress in the psychosomatic patients.
