Abstract:

A satisfying and healthy sexual life is an important part of a woman's health, and it has a significant impact on the quality of life. Studies have shown that around 22-43% of women have sexual problems, but only 21% of them seek medical advice. Sexual terminology and descriptions of sexual dysfunction have been developing and changing along with the increase in scientific interest about sexuality. Sexual desire is a motivational or instinctive state caused by specific neurophysiological processes in the brain. Some women have no sexual initiative or interest but still express satisfaction with their sexual lives. Earlier, sexual desire was considered to be spontaneous but women often report that they are reactive in relation to spontaneous sexual desire, which confirms the circular pattern of the sexual response. Biological, psychological, sociocultural and interpersonal approaches are required for the diagnosis and treatment of these problems.
