Abstract:

Chronic hepatitis C is a global problem, affecting almost 3% of the world population. As it is one of the most significant causes of chronic liver disease and cirrhosis development, advances in drug therapy over the last few years represent unquestionable health-economic significance. The development of a new generation of direct antiviral drugs was a revolution in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C, because of their simple oral administration without co-administration of interferon and incredible results along with significantly shorter duration of treatment. A wide range of new therapeutic options with much higher efficiency and with a better safety profile give hope for a permanent cure to all patients.
